Since childhood, I have been fascinated by the power of language and the impact of a well-chosen sentiment. You could call me a geek, and that would be accurate! It may sound simple, but just think about words for a moment. They hold the power to influence, to teach, vindicate and blame. We use words to thank, to admonish and to tell those around us how much we love them. Meaningful phrases stay with us - often for many years after the event - particularly those offered with kindness and love. Being the person who is able to do that for families at a special time in their lives is such a privilege, and one that I take seriously.

 

I pursued my interest in English Literature through study at university, and then went on to teach English Literature and Language in secondary education for 12 years, leading on Whole School Literacy and then becoming Head of English. A career for which you need a healthy dose of patience and very broad shoulders! In short, very little phases me.

As you would expect, I have a wealth of experience in speaking publicly to large audiences, something which I thoroughly enjoy. My passion for ensuring the right words are chosen for each circumstance, and to convey the intended message and tone, clearly secured my a reputation as a strong and influential public speaker; this is the foundation of my career as a Celebrant.

As a Celebrant, I liaise closely with clients to create bespoke ceremonies which reflect the story of each person I work with. I am told that my superpower is my close attention to detail, which comes from a desire to do the very best for the people I work with.

My services include wedding ceremonies, funeral services and baby naming events, along with designing bespoke packages to celebrate life's special moments.
