Funeral Services
Losing a loved one is without doubt one of the most challenging periods that we go through in life. Not only are we dealing with our own grief, but we have the added pressure of organising a sendoff that they would be proud of.

Funerals, with the gathering of family and friends often from far and wide, have the power to both celebrate and commemorate a life well-lived, and can leave everyone in attendance feeling as though their loved one has been laid to rest.

Whilst Funeral Directors organise the logistics of a funeral (including timing and location), I am responsible for the ceremony: the writing and delivery of the ceremony including the eulogy. Although I work closely with Funeral Directors, I am independent and work as a sole trader, meaning that I can be booked directly or you can request my services when booking the funeral.
My job is to spend time with you, the family who are organising the funeral, to listen to your memories so that I can weave the story of their life into a beautiful ceremony with your loved one at the centre.
The Process
The process of me officiating a funeral involves:
1. Face to Face Meeting
Once you've decided I am the right person to officiate the funeral, we'll arrange a face-to-face meeting (usually over a cup of tea!) between me, you and anyone you feel would be helpful to the service-writing (often those who are happy to share the 'story' of the individual).

We'll talk through the wonderful, special and unique parts of their life, including humourous anecdotes (if you're prepared to share them of course!).
As we're talking I'll be taking notes: this is so that I can refer to them at the writing phase.
2. Writing + Review
Following our meeting, I will use the stories you have shared to draft the ceremony.
Each ceremony script is written on a bespoke basis, so can take many hours to write and redraft.
When I am happy with the script, it will be sent to you for review - this can be via email if it's best, or we can go through it face-to-face if you'd prefer.
Using your feedback, I will make any edits and send back to you for final confirmation, so that you and your family are entirely happy with the final version before the funeral takes place.
3. The Funeral Service
On the day of the funeral, you can be assured that the ceremony is taken care of.
The Funeral Directors will take care of the logistics, and I will ensure the smooth running of the ceremony, so that you can focus on what's most important: celebrating the story of the person you love.

Whilst the funeral service itself is just one part of the process of grieving, it is an important one, as we so often feel a sense of peace afterward, taking comfort in the knowledge that we have truly celebrated and honoured our loved ones' lives, with family and friends present.

Funerals are always incredibly emotional events, but depending on the tone that you feel appropriate, there are choices to be made which can evoke smiles or laughter, such as a slideshow of pictures and the sharing of amusing anecdotes. The ceremony can be faith-based or secular, depending on known wishes. In short, we will work together to tailor the ceremony just as you know your loved one would like it to be.
